THAILAND: 2022 was a great inaugural year for On Mission Global. We chose two worthy ministry partners to come alongside. The first was Mercy International in Thailand. They operate three children’s homes in Thailand, in Phrae, Phetchabun, and Khon Kaen. Though in the beginning they focused on AIDs children, they now take abandoned children, and abused children who have been removed from the home. The team we took in October served at two of the three locations. We installed a 31 kW solar system that is meeting all their daytime power needs, conducted first aid and CPR training for the older children and staff, and played games and shared Christ with the children over the week we were there. We took board games and clothing they requested to bless the children and the ministry. Another mission trip to Thailand is being planned for second half 2023.
UGANDA: The second ministry we chose is much more challenging in many ways. We are coming alongside an association of churches in the Rhino Refugee Camp in northern Uganda. We visited the camps in November 2022 and met with church leaders to assess the needs. We found the needs to be overwhelming. Food and water insecurity was high, the predominance of women and children was telling, and there was a sense of despair as they communicated the situation. And yet, their was joy and hope in their voices as they sang and worshiped the God who cares. These people work hard to survive, and want to make a better life for themselves and their children.
While we were in the camps, we provided meals for the 5 churches we visited, taught the women and children, and listened to their needs. We also met with government leaders and leaders of other non-profit organizations working in the camps, to get an overall picture of the situation there.
As a result, we have established a goal to strengthen these refugees spiritually, emotionally, intellectually and physically, to prepare them to return to their home countries in a few years, when it is safe, to build a better society for themselves and their children. We hope to do this through investing in 5 priority areas.
FIVE PRIORITY AREAS
“Bless the Churches” Building Program will raise up churches in which they can worship.
“Strengthen the Body” Bible Distribution will provide Bibles to all who need it, and audio Bibles for those who don’t read. The 5 priority areas are:
“Teach Them Well” Church and Pastor Training will provide biblical resources for children’s and women’s ministries and training on how to use them. It will also provide commentaries and other resources for Pastors, to better equip them to lead the churches.
“Provide for the Flock” Agriculture and Business Training will provide training on how to get better yields for their crops and how to run small businesses.
“Prepare for the Future” Vocational Training will provide vocational training for needed skills, to be used along with the business training to help the refugees better provide for their families.
Pray for this ministry as we start building the first church this month! Also pray that both of these ministries to “the least of these” will be a blessing to the people it serves and glorifying to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We couldn’t do any of this without your prayer and financial support. God bless you for supporting this ministry. God bless you!
