We are praying about starting a new work in the Omugo Refugee Camp in the Terego district of Uganda. There is an assocation of five churches there that we could work with, under the direction of Pastor Dima, who oversees all of the Baptist churches in the refugee camps. The construction of Genesis Baptist Church is underway, but they could use some financial help to complete the building. They are building the church as funds become available.
The churches are also trying to grow food. They are working together to clear land and are currently working the soil, waiting for seeds. However, they need to lease more land to grow crops, as there is serious food insecurity in the camps.
Some of the needs they have been praying for are leasing land for farming, training women in liquid soap making, additional vocational training for both men and women. They also need leadership training for both women and men in the Word of God.
Although these refugees are all from South Sudan, they are different people/language groups. The dominant languages are people from Kuku, Pojulu, Kakwa, and few Nuer, but Nuer are not in the fellowship yet.
A vision trip is scheduled for late October/November 2022 to see the situation first hand, talk to the pastors and other church leaders and determine whether this is a place where On Mission Global can invest.
